About
Between Salé and Amsterdam
OTAT is a Moroccan rapper from Salé, based in Amsterdam. His sound moves between the pulse of Moroccan streets and the friction of diaspora life in Europe — never settling, always shifting. He approaches music as a space to break and rebuild form: stripped atmospheric soundscapes one moment, hard rhythm-driven beats the next. His work draws from Moroccan and Maghrebi traditions like chaabi and way way, not as references to imitate but as raw material — reworked rhythms, direct energy, rooted and unpredictable at once.
He writes from lived experience: distance, pressure, visibility. His voice is intimate and confrontational, capturing what it means to move between multiple spaces and identities. On stage he delivers high-intensity performances built on physical presence and controlled tension. He has shared stages with ElGrandeToto and Khtek, performed at Melkweg and Paradiso, and appeared on Jamshow in Morocco. OTAT is part of a new wave redefining Moroccan rap beyond borders.
The beginning: OTAT's journey began in the streets of Amsterdam, filming spontaneous videos rapping in Moroccan Darija in public spaces. Those spaces were the first ground where he tested his voice. His boldness drew attention and opened the door to Jamshow, the major Moroccan rap competition broadcast on 2M, where he reached the finals with his sharp style and confident stage presence.

Style & fashion
Influence you can see
OTAT is a rapper — and his influence runs through clothes. A successful artist specialised in fashion and known for his style, he treats what he wears on stage and on camera as part of the work itself: Maghrebi patterns, tailored pieces and streetwear composed into a look that is his alone, moving between Salé and Amsterdam just like the music. He has performed at Moda Fest in Utrecht, the festival celebrating Moroccan fashion, and the visual world of Laabo Bik reimagines Houssine Slaoui through a contemporary lens.
